Greystar is a market leading fully integrated real estate company offering expertise in investment, development, and property management of multifamily residential properties globally.  The European business is rapidly growing, and currently covers the UK, Ireland, The Netherlands, Germany, France and Spain.

The Global Public Affairs team at Greystar is a lean fast-paced group focused on strengthening the Greystar reputation and brand around the world.  As part of the Global Communications team we drive communications efforts across all of Greystar’s internal and external platforms.  This role will lead pan-European communications activities in the UK & Ireland, France, Germany, Spain and The Netherlands, as well as providing a single point of contact for the Managing Director of the Communications group, based in the U.S., in these territories.

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and experienced communications professional to help guide and expand Greystar’s European communications efforts.  The ideal candidate will be responsible for owning and setting the PR and internal communications strategy for Greystar in Europe; and implementing strategies, programs, policies and initiatives that enable Greystar team members to stay informed about important initiatives, policy updates and events taking place throughout Europe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver the external communications strategy and policies for the business across Europe in partnership with the global team.
  • Agree, manage and communicate the PR budgets for our European offices and portfolio of brands.
  • Advise and support business leaders in drafting and rolling out internal communications and plans as required across Europe.
  • Lead on all European external communications across all countries we work in – with the support of external agencies where necessary.
  • Oversee and manage all external communications agencies across Europe, feeding back and aligning to key global messaging.
  • Proactive media relations – responsible for building and managing positive relationships with a broad range of media including trade, national, consumer across both traditional and digital platforms with the aim of delivering on message strategic coverage.
  • Champion Greystar and our brands staying at the forefront of all aspects of the market, as well as any challenges facing the business.
  • Regularly audit and update the key messaging matrix for each region and brand ensuring that key speakers are available for comment and are appropriately prepared prior to media engagements.
  • Spend significant time in each European country we operate in to build relationships with country leadership and potential agencies on the ground and understand the unique needs of each business.
  • Oversee the management of each PR program through both consumer and trade channels on time and on budget.
  • Responsible for the development of a comprehensive strategic plan that meets the overall market requirements.
  • Set and manage the PR budgets for our European portfolio of brands and advise the Marketing Director on the Greystar annual PR budgets.
  • Manage and plan crisis communications for Greystar and our portfolio of brands; to include planning, drafting statements, correspondence and media liaison.
  • Lead, organise and attend press interviews, events and trips.
  • Coordinate annual events calendar of key industry events to manage external communications.
  • Create internal communication pieces and dispatch the weekly press coverage to the business.
  • Proactively provide briefings for the business on political, policy and jurisdictional news that impacts the investor and consumer landscape.

Your Profile:

  • Relevant communications experience: either agency, in-house or a combination of both.
  • Experience in a similar Financial Services or regulated environment.Real estate experience would be advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of and relationships with external stakeholders across Europe.
  • Language skills are highly sought; French, German, Spanish or Dutch.
  • Passion, experience and expertise in employee-centric internal communications.
  • Able to build strong relationships; commands the confidence of others internally & externally.
  • Established media relationships with national newspapers, newswires and trade publication journalists.
  • Experience supporting capital markets transactions.
  • Organised, efficient, takes ownership, trusted to deliver to deadline.
  • Independent, clear and creative thinking, takes initiatives, goes beyond the expected, spots opportunities.

  • Strong leadership skills and proven success in building high-energy teams, creating and articulating clear strategy and direction, and fostering collaboration and synergy.
  • Demonstrated creative sensibilities with an attention to design and detail.
