Job Description
The Senior Director leads the strategic management and development of Greystar’s activities in Ireland. This position will actively represent the Company in this territory, taking responsibility for the development and successful implementation of business plans and practices that achieve our financial, investment and operating goals.

Grestar is a leading, fully integrated real estate company offering expertise in investment management, development, and property management of rental housing properties globally. Headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, Greystar operates an estimated $115B of real estate in over 180 markets globally including offices throughout the United States, UK, Continental Europe, Latin America, and the Asia-Pacific region.  Greystar is the largest operator of apartments in the United States, managing over 491,000 units/beds, has a robust institutional investment management platform including $32B of assets under management and $16BN of assets under development.  The European business is rapidly growing with existing multifamily and student operations in the UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Spain and France. We are now looking to expand into Ireland.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Supports the execution of the Company’s investment management strategies and priorities by developing business plans, establishing financial and growth targets, and proposing, acquiring, and organizing the team and resources for successfully achieving performance results within Ireland
  • Driving strategy towards the profitable growth and operation of the region; closely monitoring the operating and financial results against plans and budgets
  • Leads and manages team members; interviewing hiring, on boarding and developing direct reports and other team members as appropriate and managing their performance in accordance with Company policies, values, and business practices.
  • Responsible for the preparation of internal documentation to process potential investments through internal approval processes.
  • Leads due diligence process including budgets and ongoing negotiations; and closings with outside counsel.
  • Responsible for profit, revenue, cash and quality targets.
  • Helps develop and implements process improvements, best practices, and other initiatives targeted to increase revenue, reduce costs, promote efficiencies, and improve the overall performance of the business
  • Ensures there is a strong communication rhythm to drive collaboration and transparency across the business.
  • Stays abreast of market conditions and trends, and works with the regional team to achieve or exceed financial targets in favourable and unfavourable market conditions.
  • Develops and maintains contacts with external relations to gain acquisitions and new business.
  • Participates in and supports efforts to manage relationships with key investors and capital partners, replies to inquiries and requests for data and information as needed, and partners with Investor Relations and other business groups as needed to achieve superior investor satisfaction.
  • Manages client equity relationships and satisfaction by maintaining ongoing communication, providing detailed reports, market updates and financial analysis on the performance of the portfolios, quickly acting to address any client concerns, questions or requests and reviewing and acting upon client satisfaction survey results.
  • Responsible for reporting on country results, progress against targeted goals, issues, and opportunities. Anticipates the information needs and expectations, and provides reports and updates that facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Supports the creating of a culture that is consistent with the overall Company's and emphasises the Greystar Pillars, strategy, and objectives in an engaging manner to team members

Experience & Skills required: 

  • Significant senior level experience of leading institutional deals, from origination to closing, within a real estate investment environment
  • Demonstrable real estate experience within the UK & Ireland (essential) and internationally (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of real estate and debt markets; and of standard terms and structures of deal capital.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills to effectively assess sensitivities and pressure points during complex negotiations.
  • Commercially focused and able to apply sound business principals.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills and sufficient to recruit, lead and manage team members to achieve high performance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; including the ability to effectively write and present reports and information.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships and act with impact and influence at all levels.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills to juggle complex tasks and manage the workload of others, with the ability to work effectively under pressure, to deadlines and work flexibly in change environment.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, both with respect to managing workload and own professional development
  • MBA in real estate, business or finance (preferred)
